Good Morning,
By now you should have received and viewed the guiding document from the district in regards to beginning work next week. I will go over a few key points based off of discussions I have had with my team and the Cabinet team.
1. On the document there are 3 tabs at the bottom. Please make sure you look at each tab for information. Please understand that the first page are IDEAS, not every item listed is mandatory, view this as a menu not a checklist. Please do what you and your team feel most comfortable with.
2. You are NOT expected to be “live” during the duration of your entire work day. Per Jen Murray: Teachers hours can be flexible. We understand that with the current situation and home life of all our different teachers working the regular times may be very difficult. We just ask that everyone do their best with their work and keep contact with our students and families.
3. For specific questions as to work you are to complete, it is best to reach out to your immediate supervisor. For regular ed, please contact your principal; Special Ed, please contact your PC (PCs were to email out when they will have Office Hours if you would prefer to communicate via phone) ESL, please contact your principal and/or Director. You may always contact me with concerns about directives you receive.
4. You do NOT need to give out any of your personal contact information. If you would like to call a parent you may type *67 before their number and it will block your number. For text communication, please use the school provided platform of Dojo or Remind. For email communication, please provide only your RSD email. I am attaching directions for Transperfect, the translating service if you have a parent who is non English speaker.CCIU Reading School District Telephonic Interpretation Dialing Instructions
5. Inevitably there will be a parent that sues the district for FAPE during this time. If a call log is required of you, please keep one. This is the documentation that the district will need to prove that we did in fact TRY to provide continued learning for our students.
6. Remember you are NOT teaching new curriculum. All activities should be remediation of concepts already taught.
7. If you do NOT have internet access at home, please email me directly. I am compiling a list for the district. They are currently looking to see what may be done.
8. Sick Days/ Personal Days/ Bereavement Days, if you are unable to complete the work outlined in the guiding document then please put in for the time. If you had a personal day and would now be available, feel free to cancel it. If you are home sick but can still respond via email/Dojo/Remind then you do not need to put in for the sick day. If you have had a death in your family and will not be able to respond via email/Dojo/Remind, please put in for the bereavement day. As a reminder you should email Crystal Lynch if you need to cancel a day. If you do not use the balance of your personal days this year, they will be paid out as the CBA states. Only 1 day per year may be carried over.
I want to finish with saying I can not thank each and every one of you enough. I was truly humbled this week with the outpouring of “thanks.” It is my pleasure to serve each of you.
Be Well,
Rebecca
