Good Morning,
I have many items for you today as we now know we will be shut down for the remainder of the 19-20 school year. Please take the time to read through everything and as always if you have a question, please let me know.
Pay: There was some confusion with the last email that Kristin Boyd sent stating the date of June 30th. Please know there will be no disruption to your pay. We will continue to get paid as we always do.
Retirees: What a way to end your career! REA has not forgotten about you. We are looking to hold our retirement dinner in October of 2020. Hopefully life will be back to normal by then!
Rep Council/ Rep Elections: REA Exec committee is having a meeting this Wednesday. We will be reviewing how to handle the remainder of this school year and will be in touch with reps. PSEA has sent information on postponing rep elections until the fall when we return. Exec board will review these guidelines and formulate a plan.
REA Scholarship: The REA dependent scholarship is still open to apply. The deadline has been postponed until 5/1/2020. Please visit www.readingea.com for the application. If you are able to, please SCAN all documents to president@readingea.com. If you are unable, you may drop off a paper version at the REA office at 125 Morgantown Rd.
Extra Duty Pay: I have received questions about extra duty pay such as, split class/SAP/MTSS/SI, I have an email out to the Finance department. I will send something out to the membership once I receive word from them.
Personal Days: As a reminder, you must still take your personal days if you are unable to complete your requirements for our new learning platforms. If you are able to complete your work, then there is no need to take a personal day. You will still only be able to carry over 1 day to the 20-21 school year. If you have a balance higher than 1 day, you will be paid out for the additional days in our 6/19 pay.
What Will Our Year Look like from here? Currently the Teaching and Learning department and the Cabinet are creating a plan for what our year will look like after 4/30. PDE has given guidelines for instruction moving forward from 4/30. REA Exec board will review that plan that RSD creates this week at our meeting. The plan should be put out from the Central Office on or around 4/20. Again, you will need to contact your direct supervisor with questions.
