Good Afternoon,
Email: I apologize if you have not heard a response back to an email you sent to my president@readingea.com address. I have been having difficulty especially with email addresses at @yahoo, @aol, @verizon. I THINK after many hours on the phone with Westhost and Microsoft the issue is resolved. If you have sent me an email and have not received a response, please kindly email me again. I do apologize for this inconvenience.
Extra Duty Pay: There have been several questions about extra duty pay. Below is the district’s response.
If a teacher turned in a split class payment sheet, and it was processed by the building secretary and sent to the business office before April 10, it was paid. There may be buildings that did not process their paperwork before the shutdown, so those documents have not been processed for payment by the business office because they don’t have them. As buildings are reopened, and staff are permitted to have access to their papers and things, principals and clerks will be directed to make sure that the payment sheets are processed and forwarded to the business office for payment. Perhaps your members could contact their respective secretaries if you they have specific questions.
When the buildings are reopened and principals and clerks have access to their papers, we will ensure that these additional duty pays will be processed.
The “yearly” stipends, like dept. heads, will be paid at the end of the year, per usual.
Social Media: I would like to kindly remind everyone that even though our schedules have become more flexible, the expectation of posting on social media has not. Please refrain from posting NON work related activities during your contractual day.
Technology: As a reminder if you are experiencing technology related issues you should contact IT. Multiple carries are offering free internet to teachers. They are also removing the limit of data. If you are unable to secure internet service, the district has stated you may call in to meetings or make calls home to students, using *67 to block your phone number.
Continuity of Learning Plan: You should have received or reviewed the Continuity of Learning plan Power Point for how we will move in to the next phase. As always, please contact your direct supervisor. If you are concerned about a directive you have received, then please contact your reps/officers/myself.
Rep Elections: Rep elections will be conducted, by an officer, in each building once we return. Please take some time to consider taking on this role in your building. You may reach out to your current reps or myself if you have questions about the duties of rep.
