Good Morning,
Covid Tracing and Identification: I know there have been many questions about how contact tracing and identification is being done in the schools. I reached out to Anne Fisher directly to ask for the procedure. Thank you to everyone for their dilegence this year in making sure our schools are as safe as possible. Here is what I have received from Anne:
Contact tracing and reporting is completed in the same manner as last year. It is important to note that contact tracing only occurs when there is a positive student or staff. The criteria for what constitutes a close contact has changed for student/student contacts per the CDC. It has not changed for staff/student or staff/staff. “In the K–12 indoor classroom setting, the close contact definition excludes students who were within 3 to 6 feet of an infected student (laboratory-confirmed or a clinically compatible illness) if both the infected student and the exposed student(s) correctly and consistently wore well-fitting masks the entire time.”https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/php/contact-tracing/contact-tracing-plan/appendix.html#contact I’ve attached a few documents that may help, as I believe there may be some confusion about isolation, quarantine and time frames. The student covid exclusion attachment is used by every nurse. We have very specific documentation in eSchools and letters and information that goes home to parents. There is a tracking form utilized in every health room and as last evening, I have directed the nurses to share this with their attendance clerks, building admin and me. That is also attached. Finally, if there is a positive case, the nurses complete the required Dept. of Health Forms. I am always listed as the contact person. The forms come to me and I send them to the DOH. The self-report form names the positive student. The line list (LL template) lists the close contact information. Lisa Magrowski completes these two forms for employees and sends them to me. Completion of the forms requires the nurse to have a conversation with the teacher about their proximity to the student, as well as other students proximity
