Good Morning,

Insurance Open enrollment and premium savings benefit: I have a few things to address with insurance, please read over them carefully.

Premium Savings Benefit: Under our contract if you have a routine physical done each year you are eligible for 2 months of “forgiven” premium charge. This occurs with our 2 pays in October and 2 pays in November. I have had several questions about will an extension being given due to Covid. I have reached out to the Benefits department, but have not heard back. At this time, please plan accordingly. You must have the physical done by June 30th and the form must be received by August 1. You may find the physical reimbursement form at https://www.readingsd.org/Page/2082

Open Enrollment: You should have, or will be receiving an Open Enrollment benefits packet in the mail. Additionally, an email was sent out today from the Benefits department with open enrollment information. Please carefully read over the paperwork and submit anything necessary by the due dates listed.

125 Accounts (Cafeteria Accounts): If you have a flexible spending/Cafeteria/125 Account the IRS has made some changes to your spending abilities. Please check them out at https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-provides-tax-relief-through-increased-flexibility-for-taxpayers-in-section-125-cafeteria-plans

Vote by Mail: Sign up is quick, safe, and secure – and all you need is your PA Driver’s License or ID. We don’t know what June 2nd will look like in PA, or Nov. 3rd, for that matter.  But as school employees, we know that elections matter and have real consequences for our students, our schools, and our jobs – just look at the quick legislative action taken to pass Senate Bill 751, now Act 13, to make sure our schools received their full share of state funding and that we continued to get paid this year! Please take a moment and sign up to receive your ballot by mail, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything.  Hope to see you very soon, in-person, and in healthier times! Sign up online NOW to receive a mail-in ballot for the June 2nd Pennsylvania Primary election: https://www.mobilize.us/psea/event/265329/

Monday Messages: As a reminder, all Monday Messages can be found on the REA website (www.readingea.com) under “Members Only.” You MUST use a personal email to register for the Members Only section. I am attaching the directions if you are not yet registered.

End of Year: As of now, we have not received any word on end of year procedures. Our last day is still June 17th.

Access to buildings: I have received questions about accessing the buildings to collect more materials, grades books, graded assignments of students. I have asked the Cabinet if something could be arranged for teachers to collect these materials, at this time I have not heard back. As soon as I do, I will let you know.

Quote of the Week: “Not every day will be a good day, but you’ll have to show up anyway and crush it.”  4 weeks left everyone, we can do this!

Be Well,

Rebecca
