I wanted to provide you with some updates.
Survey Results: I am attaching a synopsis of the survey results. We had an incredible 541 members respond, however that is still only half of our membership. With that being said, I understand that there are varying opinions on this matter. I also realize that this is a very difficult and emotionally charged time. My job as your President is to collect the data, give as much input as possible to the District, make sure our members are protected, but ultimately the decision is in the Board’s hands.
What Now?: So where do we go from here and what can be done? As I had stated in my email the night of the board meeting, it has not been a collaborative process thus far, that does not mean it needs to continue that way. Since the board meeting I have met with the other Berks County presidents, Uniservs, and RAC for the region. Options from across the county were discussed. It is evident that plans are changing on a daily and weekly basis. We will begin to use surveys as check-ins to monitoring how things are going and what we can suggest to change or improve our situation. These survey results will be shared with the membership first and then shared with the Cabinet to have a stronger voice heard downtown.
General Membership Meeting: An additional General Membership meeting was requested. This meeting will be held on Monday, August 24th at 12pm. A link will be forthcoming as PSEA will have to provide the platform to accommodate our membership. Please be on the look out for this.
