Good Morning,

Furlough Information: I have received many questions in regards to POSSIBLE furloughs. At this time there have been NO discussions between REA and RSD in regards to furloughs. With that being said, I have received more up to date information pertaining to furloughs, please see the attached flyer. Additionally, for our 5th grade teachers, the district moving 5th grade to the middle school from the elementary school will not affect your seniority.

Personal Day Requests: While we are under a virtual platform:According to Lisa Magrowski, Dir. of Benefits, emails should be sent to Crystal Lynch by REA members. They should copy their principals on the email for approval. Once the principal approves, Crystal enters their absence.

Internet Connectivity: REA understands that our members may have issues with internet connectivity. While the district still has not opened the buildings to staff members to work, we would like to see if they would be willing to open A location to members that have internet issues. IF you have issues with your home internet, either due to your provider or where you live, please take a moment to fill out the survey. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSelVfP8BaIVMtCG9dborMoz6v12-gKcfqopqH_amdZwxZMFDg/viewform?usp=sf_link

Where are you on the salary schedule: With the switch from numbers to letters many people are unsure of where they are. First and foremost, please do not get hung up on number/letter/years in the district. To figure out where you are please follow these steps:

            1. Take the “reg salary” amount in the upper left hand corner of our last pay stub and multiply it by 26, this will give you your annual salary for the 19-20 school year.

            2. Take that amount and find it on pg 36 of the CBA. (The CBA can be found on the REA website under “Resources”)

            3. From your annual salary amount, find which step you were on in 19-20.

            4. Once you know your step for 19-20, go to pg 35 of the CBA.

            5. You will find your step for 19-20 on pg 35 and go straight across. This will tell you how you will move through the schedules for the duration of this contract.

            6. Once you find the correct letter for 20-21, you can find what your annual salary will be. (As a reminder, column movement does not occur until around the end of October, but is retroactive.)

Quote of the Week: “Our labor unions are not narrow, self-seeking groups. They have raised wages, shortened hours, and provided benefits. Through collective bargaining and grievance procedures, unions have brought justice and democracy to the workplace.” – JFK

Be Well,
